Midland, Texas: Speed, science, and 3 world-class athletes coming to Midland

This year’s Daytona 500 winner Austin Dillon, along with USA Olympic Luge Medalists Chris Mazdzer and Erin Hamlin, celebrated their successes with the Midland, Tex. community during Dow Chemical’s Science of Speed event Thursday, June 7.

Dow technology has helped all three athletes succeed, as the company is the main sponsor of Dillon’s No. 3 car on the Richard Childress Racing team, and is also the official technical partner of the USA Luge team.

Dow scientists work to improve the athletes’ team equipment by identifying and addressing the efforts an extreme operating environment can have on materials and component performance. Dow’s ongoing partnerships with Richard Childress Racing and the USA Luge team help ensure positive performance and safety for the athletes.

The event included conversationS with the athletes, a race car simulation, family activities, and food for friends and family from the community to enjoy.
