NOVA Chemicals announced a $2 million investment to prevent plastic debris from reaching the ocean in a recent press release.

“Plastics are too valuable to be thrown away or left as litter. We’re working with Project STOP to find high-impact solutions to prevent plastic pollution in critical locations around the world,” said John Thayer, Senior Vice President, Polyethylene Business at NOVA Chemicals.

Project STOP, co-created by NOVA Chemicals sister company Borealis and SYSTEMIQ, aims to prevent leakage of waste into the environment by providing waste collection services, increased recycling of plastics by strengthening the supply chain from waste collection to waste management companies and benefitting the local community by creating jobs in the waste management system.
